Emily, Emily,
You’re givin’ me love,
With your heavenly, heavenly words,
But you never knew me like I know you, so

Emily, Emily,
You just lifted your hand.
You wrote grand poetry, Emily,
That I understand.

Oh Emily,
There may be centuries, ages
Between us but still, we can walk in your pages,
And be with you, Emily,
Making love with your mind.

Emily, Emily,
History’s not kind.
I sit here and read your mind,
But I can’t reply.

Emily, Emily,
You wrote about love,
Long-lost souls, wearily querying,
Why should we die?

Oh, Emily,
There may be centuries, ages
Between us but still, we can walk in your pages,
And be with you, Emily,
Making love with your mind.

Emily,
The distance is long,
And it seems so wrong
That we should be only joined by words.

If we only have words,
If we only have thoughts to share -
Well, I’m glad they were yours….

Little Nell

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Little Nell sits,
Starrin’ in her movie,
She’s a star, shinin’ bright against the darkness.

We’re a bunch,
Nobodies in contrast,
Staring in awe, at her halo, and why?

She’s a star,
She’s a star…

She’s a star,
She’s a star…

Little Nell,
She always reads her lines right -
She says things that we can’t get our tongues round.

She’s a star,
With the crowd at her feet,
And her life must be so neat.

She’s a star,
She’s a star…

She’s a star,
She’s a star…

Popcorn skeptics, are you not disarmed?
When she does her hair n’ works her charm?

She’s a star,
She’s a star….

She’s a star,
She’s a star…

Childhood White Lies

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Livin’ on the page of a mag
Or maybe up on a wall
May not be difficult
but harder than all
Is the lot of a lad you affected
Whose life isn’t what he expected

You were my childhood white lies,
meant to gimme some hope
but you know, I took ya seriously
And this ain’t joke to me
My childhood white lies,
you got me under a spell
you crooks, you knowI took ya seriously
And this ain’t no joke to me (well the –)

Man on the TV’s mistaken
‘cos I won’t catch the must-view finale,
No, I won’t be sat tranfixed and gazin’
‘Cos I know that they’re ready to pounce (oh-oh)

I fuck up on a regular basis,
And I can tell by the look on your smilin’ laughin’ faces (you were my)

Childhood white lies,
Meant to gimme some hope,
But you know, I took ya seriously
And this ain’t no joke to me,
My childhood white lies,
you got me under a spell,
You crooks you know I took ya seriously,
And this ain’t no joke to me now….

Dreams and fantasy I can’t reach, oh
What’s the use? still they preach to me everyday
Even on rainy days, speshly on rainy days,
When I’m alone….

You were my childhood white lies,
Meant to gimme some hope,
But you know, I took ya seriously
And this ain’t no joke to me,
My childhood white lies,
you got me under a spell,
You crooks you know I took ya seriously,
And this ain’t no joke to me now….

Top of the Food Chain

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

See that man on the corner kicking ass on a whim
Got a bet veggies got better manners than him
As he races home, running reds for a girl
Gotta glance round wondering what’s wrong in the world

And the old man sits in his rocking chair
Telling stories of old times through his wispy hair
What happened to those times?
Are they gone for good?
We should fix things, right?
Well I’m damned if we could

And I know you fear our race is gonna be blasted away
By manly men with letters standing by their names
But I got the strangest feeling it’s all gonna be okay
‘Cos I heard our species tops the food chain

If only we could change things now,
If only we could change things now.

See that naked girl with the tears in her eyes,
She got caught being pretty by a horny bunch of guys
She got caught by the neck, she got hung by a hand,
She got cut perfectly by the leader of the gang

And the old man sits in his rocking chair
Telling stories of old times through his wispy hair
What happened to those times?
Are they gone for good?
We should fix things, right?
Well I’m damned if we could

And I know you fear our race is gonna be blasted away
By manly men with letters standing by their names
But I got the strangest feeling it’s all gonna be okay
‘Cos I heard our species tops the food chain

If only we could change things now,
If only we could change things now.

Still I’d Scream

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

You’re the pull between the atoms of life
When all else goes astray, you remain,
Making everything eventually right.

And you’re the pressure that turns coal into rubies,
You make all of my life seem like that seen in movies,
You’re the best.

And you’re the thing that tells lightning when to strike
And thank god that you struck that night when we met
I’d be tragic me yet,
So I’ll never forget how I changed
More than you could ever know,
More than I could ever dream

And if they took you away,
There’d be nothing but space
And I’m told that in space you can’t scream
But though you were not here,
And nobody could hear
Still I’d scream
Without you
Without you

Teething

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

I saw something horrible
Something you’re not knowledgable of
And now my mind is growing
Result of basic knowing
And I don’t want it
I didn’t request it.

Bold new connections in my brain
New cells growing every day, driving me insane

The pain’s a little like teething
And everything I’m seeing,
Makes me wanna stop breathing.

Bold new connections in my brain
Can’t trace precisely when these other thoughts came

And this is just a suggestion
Depression may not be a flaw
You seem to think it’s essential
to smile all the time, well what for?

Oh I saw something terrible
Can’t quite describe it, I’m not able
And I can tell you’re confused
And maybe also amused
But it’s not funny
Oh it’s not funny.

The way you go about your daily ways
The way you follow everything your little friends say.

It’s a little like teething
And everything I’m seeing
Makes me wanna stop breathing

Bold new connections in my brain
And much as they make sense I wish they’d go away.

And this is just a suggestion
Depression may not be a flaw
You think that it’s normal
to smile all the time, well what for?

And this is just a suggestion
Depression may not be a flaw
You think that it’s normal
to smile all the time, well what for?
